It’s been an exciting past few weeks: random tidbits of musical tickles have sprinkled over my days.
Ode to the Ego is being embraced and played at a few new places. Volta radio welcomed the tracks along wtih Cape Cod’s PIXY station! I also received an email from a long time fan of my Luciar stuff asking to play my music on his new internet radio show on The Rose Radio. (details coming soon!)
Naturally, i’m thinking about my next musical move. I have started writing a song inspired by a character in True Blood, I’m hoping to get something recorded in the next couple of weeks…first i must decide if this will be with or without ukulele!
Also, coming up in the next couple of weeks will be some videos of me playing a few covers. I’m slightly intimidated by the process of anything video, but I will do this for YOU. And this is where you come in: please send me the name of a song you would like to see me cover. Based on what it is, i’ll decide whether to play it on piano or ukulele.
Send me your suggestions by email: lucy AT afewlittlenotes.com
It’s gonna be super fun, and probably frustrating, and might make me cry a little…but i have gotten over bigger hurdles.
I’m looking forward to it!
ELWOOD EMISSION
ODE TO THE EGO
A FEW LITTLE NOTES
NYC’s Elwood Emission is Lucy Kalantari’s one-woman electronic project jam-packed with soul-bearing crooning to a harsh industrial rock soundtrack. The callous vocal and disorted ukuleles that start off “The Invitation”, develop an unsettling sensation furthered by the cross between Alanis Morrisette and Shiny Toy Guns influenced vocals and angst-ridden subject matter (“Despicable”) displayed. ODE TO THE EGO also throws in snippets of Tori Amos-like catharsis (“Divine”) into the mix, giving this six-track sojourn into Kalantari’s darker side a fair share of lush yet eerie attributes that ambitiously push tracks like the scintillatingly sultry “Run” from the shadowy recesses to the spotlight. www.afewlittlenotes.com -Mike SOS

i really like this guy’s sense of humor. i found it really interesting though, that he heard a lot of jazz in the songs. i’m gonna have to listen to this album again and see what he was talking about…
Kristina Carroll, whose art covers “ode to the ego” participated in a an art challenge, and needs your vote
CLICK HERE and post a comment saying you vote for Kristina Carroll.
it might be a little misleading at first, since the post begins with “The votes are in…” but that’s actually from a previous contest.
all of the entries are interesting and creative in their own right. Scott Purdy’s is just plain scary (and excellent too)! but i really like the idea behind Kristina’s approach. let’s give her a hand…and send her a vote!
it’s with great honor i present to you the album cover of Ode to the Ego.
Painting by incredible artist and beautiful friend Kristina Carroll.
