New Song: “Love!” Ignition Lab Week #37

The Ignition Lab is a group songwriting challenge to write a song a week  in 2013, using weekly word prompts as a starting point. Follow our work on Facebook: facebook.com/TheIgnitionLab

The word prompt for week #37 was GOSPEL. So I went out on a limb and attempted to write a gospel choir song. Because I don’t have a gospel choir in my pocket, (that’d be cool), I tracked a bunch of my vocals on Logic and sang along to it. I kept the topic very universal: LOVE!

I had a cold during this and don’t really have the type of voice for this genre. But I think you’ll get this gist. Lyrics after the video:

LOVE

Some days I feel so low

It’s like I can’t find my way back home
But I know if I open my heart and let it in
I’ll be swept with love like a whirlwind

Love, love
Love is the answer
Love, love
Fills me with rapture
I love you
Even when you’re down
Love pulls through
To turn things around
Love, love
Love is the answer
Love, love
Fills me with rapture

Without a doubt I was feeling down and out
I forgot what life was all about
And then you remind me of that spark
That illuminates my way through the dark

Imbue me with your loving words
’cause lord knows how much it hurts
Heal me with your peaceful touch
Love like this can never be too much
